An Event Apart Chicago 2008

Last week I attended my first AEA conference and I was very happy with the trip.
It was my first time in Chicago, but I didn’t have too much free time to get to check out the city. The most I got was to reinsure my instinct that New York pizza is head and shoulders above the deep dish style that the Windy City has to offer. That’s not just my opinion, it is an actual fact.
Being at the conference itself was great. It’s not very often, if at all, that I get to spend time with other web designers (especially knowledgable ones that even know what web standards are). Watching the speakers present was cool because I’ve read most of their books. To actually see the author of a book that you learned from go into greater detail in person is pretty awesome.
I even sat next to Eric Meyer for a couple of the sessions.
The most glaring new piece of information that I came away with from this trip was that I am officially a hardcore web geek.
