The Modern Day Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield

So I was just watching Pineapple Express and the duo of Budlofsky (Kevin Corrigan) and Matheson (Craig Robinson) reminded me of the Vincent and Jules hitmen characters from Pulp Fiction. Obviously, Budlovsky and Matheson don’t come off quite as badass as Vincent and Jules, but the dynamic of the characters is pretty similar.
There’s the obvious white/black combo, Budlofsky in a way losing his edge and wanting to just go home to his wife likens to Jules wanting to give up the killing game and just walk the earth. And there’s this imagery of both pairs aiming their guns. Looking at them side by side, maybe its more like the poor man’s version rather than the modern day. Either way, I thought it was an interesting tidbit to throw out there.
At the very least, I’d say Budlofsky and Matheson probably looked up to Vincent and Jules growing up and wanting to be hired guns. I wonder if they took any of this into consideration when making the movie?
